Cracking the Consistency Code on Instagram: A Guide to Staying Sane

Ah, consistency – the dreaded C word that sends shivers down the spines of many online business owners. It's a common tale: dive into an Instagram marketing strategy, wait for the viral posts, expect the cash flow, and when it doesn't happen overnight, throw in the towel. The disappointment sets in, the energy drains, and the dream of a thriving online business takes a hit.

In today's episode, let's tackle this elusive consistency on Instagram – how to achieve it without burning out and without letting content control your life.

Before we dive in, don't forget to check out the link in the description for my free guide on turning followers into consistent clients and unlocking the secret to 5-10k months with just 3-day work weeks.

Now, let's set the record straight – this isn't a quick fix. Running a business, especially in the realm of marketing, is not a walk in the park. It's challenging, and that's what makes it rewarding. If you're expecting results without putting in the work, the traditional nine-to-five might be a better fit. However, in the online business world, we can simplify things and work smarter, not harder, even though hard work is inevitable.

The Reality Check: Stress and Burnout

Stress and burnout are part of the human experience, just like facing challenges is an integral part of business. You can't live in stress, but you can't avoid seasons of it. Embrace it as a phase, not a permanent state. Now, let's explore how to make consistent posting on Instagram a bit more manageable.

Disclaimer: This episode won't magically make posting easy, but it will provide practical tips to simplify the process.

How to Post Consistently on Instagram without Burning Out

  1. Content Batching System: Design a system that works for you – whether it's one day a month, three days a month, or even seven mornings a month dedicated to creating content. By spending focused time, you can create content for the entire month, saving energy and eliminating daily content creation stress. Even stories can be batched using certain scheduling apps.

CTA: Interested in mastering the art of content batching? Check out my guidebook – The Content Batching Blueprint – and learn how to batch one month of Instagram content in just three days.

  2. No Beating Yourself Up: Your system is a tool, not a stick to beat yourself with. If you only manage to batch two weeks of content instead of a full month, that's still a win. The key is that having a system will help you accomplish more than without one. Don't stress about perfection; focus on progress.

  3. Sustainable Schedule: Find a posting schedule that you can sustainably stick to. The sweet spot might be around four posts a week, but the crucial factor is consistency. If you can post more, fantastic! If not, work with what you have.

CTA: Speaking of consistency, I'm transforming my mastermind program, The Simple Business Builder, into a self-study course. Join the waitlist below for an exclusive bonus when doors open.

  4. Repurpose Your Wins: Make your life easier by repurposing old, high-performing content. It's okay to repeat yourself; in fact, it reinforces your key messages. Repurposing saves time and provides value to new followers without the constant need for new content creation.

  5. Consistent, Not Constant: Understand that consistent doesn't mean constant. As long as you're on the ball more often than not, you're on the right track.

Remember, the journey to consistent posting on Instagram may not be a walk in the park, but with the right strategies, you can make it a manageable and rewarding process. Until next time, happy posting!

ARTICLE

I've been there - that moment in 2023 when the urge to quit IG was strong, and I took a hiatus from posting. Sound familiar? If you've ever felt the weight of low reach, mental health concerns, or the constant comparison game, know that you're not alone. The struggle is real, and it's a sentiment echoed by many of you in my DMs and through conversations with my clients.

Instagram and Mental Health: A Complicated Relationship

The narrative often revolves around Instagram being detrimental to mental health. The app is designed to be addictive, and it's easy to dwell on its negative aspects. However, rather than succumb to its toxic allure, I believe in working with what we have.

Boundaries are key. Setting limits on usage, curating your feed, and blocking negativity can transform your IG experience. When approached with intention, Instagram can be a powerful tool for connection, market research, and, dare I say, fun.

The Case for Instagram in 2024

Why bother with Instagram in 2024? In my view, it remains an unbeatable platform. With its vast user base and diverse functionalities, Instagram allows you to engage with your audience, share stories, and conduct surveys. Even if you're exploring other traffic-focused platforms, IG provides invaluable insights into your ideal clients' wants and needs.

Sure, growing on platforms like Pinterest, Google, or YouTube is a strategic move, but the time it takes to see results may not suit everyone. With the right approach, you can secure clients on IG within weeks. I recently closed a deal through DMs with a client who booked without knowing the price—proof that the right strategy can yield quick results.

Crafting the Right Strategy

The frustration often stems from low reach and a lack of conversion. But here's the truth: it's not the platform; it's your strategy. Consistency without a well-thought-out plan won't cut it on any platform.

Addressing consistency struggles requires a sustainable content schedule and a content creation routine. Consider content batching, a technique that works wonders for many entrepreneurs, including Gigi, who learned the ropes from me and tailored it to her busy mom schedule.

Shifting the Focus: Conversion Over Virality

"It's hard to stay consistent on Instagram!" I hear you. But here's the kicker: consistency struggles often result from an unsustainable approach, not the platform itself. Batching content can be a game-changer.

Yes, Instagram can impact mental health, but dwelling on the negatives won't change that. Instead, leverage the platform's free access to a massive user base, including potential ideal clients. Set boundaries, be intentional in your usage, and turn your Instagram time into a tool for creating and making money.

Success Stories That Defy the Odds

Focusing on the wrong metrics, such as going viral, can lead to disappointment and potential burnout. Success on Instagram isn't solely about virality. Take Anca, a student who optimized her bio and secured her dream client within three weeks, or Shona, whose reels may not reach thousands but is gaining more clients with a strategic approach.

Business owners who thrive on IG are those committed to the long run, maintaining boundaries, and having a strategy focused on conversion, not virality. Don't rely solely on IG; integrate email marketing to build a list and ensure your business is sustainable.

LAUNCH REVIEW

Life had its own plans during my actual launch, and I didn't execute the webinar launch I had initially planned. However, the pre-launch to my waitlist proved to be a game-changer, bringing in a solid $15,840. Let's delve into the strategies that made this pre-launch successful.

1. Waitlist Strategy

Three months before the launch of my group coaching program, I strategically built up my waitlist.

I incorporated prompts into every email, placing them at the top and within the body. In a world where attention is scarce, your call-to-action (CTA) needs to be upfront.

Utilizing Instagram, I employed @manychat to automate responses when people commented "WAITLIST," sending them the necessary details and the link to join.

Pro Tip: Follow me @neshawoolery for more valuable insights and save this post for future reference!

2. Content Strategy

Consistency was key, with five posts per week over three months. To streamline the process, I batched my content creation.

  1. Content Inspiration Folder: I created an Instagram folder called Content Inspiration, where I saved viral content adaptable to my niche.

  2. Utilizing Hooks and Styles: I mirrored the hooks, styles, and reel lengths of successful content.

  3. Data-Driven Approach: Regularly checking my insights enabled me to create more content tailored to my audience's preferences.

While I used viral reels as a guide, my primary focus was not virality but conversion.

3. Survey Strategy

Following the pre-launch, I sent out surveys to those who didn't join, aiming to understand their hesitations. This dual-purpose strategy allowed for market research and provided an opportunity to address concerns, offering a final chance to join at the waitlist price before it increased permanently.

Insider Insights: Exact best-performing emails, impactful IG stories, and nuanced strategies remain exclusive to my SBB mastermind clients.

Success Stories and Strategies That Worked

Some strategies that proved successful include:

  • Fast Action Bonus: Offering a time-limited bonus resulted in three sales within 15 minutes of the cart opening.

  • Q&A Engagement: Hosting Q&A sessions, both recorded and live, fostered engagement.

  • Empathetic Approach: Rather than pushing for a sale, I focused on answering questions, soothing hesitations, and letting potential clients make informed decisions.

Challenges and Reflections

As with any venture, challenges and areas for improvement emerged:

  1. Refund Policy Dilemma: Implementing a no-refund policy in coaching raised uncertainties about its impact on sales. Despite this, the waitlist conversion remained above average.

  2. Incomplete Launch Execution: Life's unpredictability interfered, preventing the full execution of the planned launch, including a desired webinar or challenge.

  3. Lack of Advanced Planning: While the waitlist pre-launch was meticulously scheduled, the same cannot be said for the launch itself. Going forward, a more robust planning and scheduling approach is essential to maintain momentum and engagement.

In conclusion, the success of the pre-launch lies in a strategic blend of building anticipation, consistent content creation, and addressing potential concerns. As I navigate through these challenges, the journey continues, with lessons learned and new strategies on the horizon.
